I don’t understand the low ratings
Scenario
A seasoned killer injects a grieving woman with a paralytic agent. She must run, fight and hide before her body stops working. Actor Finn Wittrick, who plays the serial killer in this film, is a top contender to also play serial killer Patrick Bateman in the upcoming remake of “American Psycho.” She goes back and forth between scenes in sneakers and hiking boots. This is a solid cat-and-mouse thriller
This is certainly not an Oscar-winning, life-changing masterpiece, but just because it’s not doesn’t mean it’s bad or mediocre, as some critics might have you believe. The film follows Iris, a grieving young mother who visits her deceased son’s makeshift memorial in the woods. There she meets Richard, who soon injects her with a paralytic agent, causing her body to freeze and shut down within 20 minutes. The film manages to maintain a very tense atmosphere throughout the film.
There is a lot of tension and suspense
The acting of the two main actors, Asbille and Wittrock, is really great. Moray Treadwell and Daniel Francis are also good. Treadwell’s British accent comes and goes, when he seems to be playing an American. Francis is convincing and good as a curious and skeptical cop.
The action scenes are realistic, but graphic
The film does a good job of including several emergency scenes throughout the film, where Iris comes close to being rescued or escaping, only to be thwarted by Richard. This was really effective and heightened the mysterious atmosphere even more. It reminds me of another somewhat similar film, Alone (2020). If you liked that one, you’ll like this one too.
A fun film to watch
Really fun, tense, disturbing and suspenseful. The premise is simple, but where this film shines is in its great execution. The final season of “What We Do in the Shadows” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres of this month. Check out our October calendar for more information!
